PDF Scan Size and DPI Calculator for Upload Limits
Estimate raw image size from page count, DPI and color depth. Actual compressed PDF size depends on the document and encoder; use the exported file's measured size to check a portal limit.
Use the free browser tool
Files and form entries are processed on this device. No upload, login or document analytics.
Raw bytes = pages × ceil(8.5 × DPI) × ceil(11 × DPI) × bits per pixel ÷ 8. MB uses 1,000,000 bytes. This is uncompressed raster size, not a prediction of compressed PDF size. Portal limits vary: enter the limit shown by your actual destination.
Your practical walkthrough
Enter your details or select a local file
Use the controls above. Documents and form values stay in this browser; do not enter information that is unnecessary for your task.
Review the preview and assumptions
Inspect the output. For estimates, replace example prices with your own quote and use the actual limits of your recipient.
Download or use the result
Download the generated file, or save the calculation. Review the final document before submitting it.
Check this before you send
Keep a copy of your original. A signature image does not verify identity, a cover sheet does not certify compliance, and a calculator does not guarantee a recipient will accept a document.
Compare the actual cost
